Soccer Shots Classic utilizes creative and imaginative games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork and appreciation.
This program runs at an indoor facility with a hard surface playing area. Masks will be required for everyone, regardless of age. Cleats are not allowed in our indoor facilities - please wear closed-toe shoes with soles of rubber or a similar soft material.
Classes on February 20th will be held at Lacamas Lake Lodge, a 6-minute drive from Camas Community Center. Location details are available on the Where We Play tab, and detailed reminders will be sent ahead of time.
Your child's health and safety is our #1 priority. That's why we've developed a series of protocols that allow for a safe return to play. We've been carefully working to meet every requirement of the Oregon Health Authority's and Washington State Department of Health's guidelines for our programs, as well as keeping up to date with State and local mandates. Soccer Shots Portland continues to monitor all updates to the guidelines and requirements to ensure we are up to date. Our policy was last updated: August 11, 2021.
We've modified many aspects of our operations and curriculum and will be asking you to make some modifications too. As we return to the field, we'll be doing it together in these key ways:
Soccer Shots is required to follow the current health mandates and guidance in both Oregon State and Washington State, and effective June 30th both states will lift mask mandates. Masks are still strongly encouraged but not required for all participants in Soccer Shots programs. Coaches will continue wearing masks for the time being.
SMALL GROUPS THAT DON'T MIX
The #1 thing we are doing to reduce risk is maintaining small groups of 12 or less. This means, all season long, your child will be playing with a maximum of 11 other players. Locations with multiple cohorts will not mix players. By maintaining what the state and CDC call a "stable cohort" everyone's risk drops dramatically.
CLEANING, SANITIZING & DISINFECTING
We'll be taking more steps than ever to ensure players, coaches and equipment are safe for play. This means we'll be washing and/or sanitizing equipment before, during and after each session. We'll be washing hands, before, during and after. We'll also be asking families that enroll to commit to coming "clean" and washing again after playing. Together, we can do this.
From increasing social distance, to removing all touch and high fives, our curriculum has been modified at a national level by experts we don't have direct access to here and then vetted and adjusted to ensure it meets all state and local guidelines.
TRUST & COMMUNICATION - FEVER OR COUGH? STAY HOME
It may or may not be COVID, but if a caregiver, a player or a coach develops a symptom that the Oregon Health Authority or Washington State Department of Health has flagged, we're not allowed to have you on the premises. This means we're all trusting each other. Coaches will perform a brief health check before every class, for every participant - including themselves.
COACH TRAINING, INFO & RULES
As role models who teach children to follow rules, we'll be following the rules of the Oregon Health Authority, Washington State Department of Health, and our national franchise system. To do that we've attended dozens of webinars and consulted with medical, sport, and governmental experts to put in place protocols that will be well above board and safe.
Together we can reduce the risk that in our programs and in our community while also starting to get so many of the emotional, social, psychological and physical benefits of Soccer Shots.
OREGON HEALTH AUTHORITY
Effective July 24, 2020 the OHA requires adults and children ages 5 and up to wear face-coverings and "does not recommend wearing a plastic face shield alone."
Effective June 30, 2021 the mask mandate in Oregon has been lifted and the OHA no longer requires masks be worn outdoors.
WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
Effective June 26, 2020 the Washington State Secretary of Health, John Wiesman, issued a health order mandating the use of cloth face coverings. Clark County Public Health website explains, "The mandate applies to adults and children ages 5 years and older. Face coverings are recommended, but not required, for children 2 to 5 years old while in public places. Children younger than 2 should not wear face coverings."
Effective June 30, 2021 the mask mandate in Washington has been lifted and the WSDOH no longer requires masks be worn outdoors.
Health & Safety policies and procedures are subject to change. Soccer Shots will notify enrolled families via email if any changes to participant requirements are made during a Season.
